Rainy Days with Toddlers

We're looking at a rainy weekend because of the tropical storm. What do you do with your toddlers when you can't go outside?

DS is 19 months old. I'm looking for fun things to do at home...not the play space in the mall or museums and stuff. Money is tight, as always! ;D

  • Paint, playdoh, take the cushions off the couch and make a fort, or jump around on them

    Second the building a fort...

Smell the spices in your cabinet.

Use papertowel roll as telescope or tube tunnel hill for matchbox cars.

Buy a cheap container of oats. Pour in a bin and let your kid play like it is a sandbox in the kitchen. They vacuum up really easily and you don't have to worry if he eats them.

Let him color a cardboard box. Cut in some Windows and doors. Depending on size it can be house for kid or his matchbox cars... Mine preferred to put stickers on it than coloring it though.

Put on rainboots and jump in puddles if weather allows.

  • These are great ideas! We've been in a bit of an indoor play rut of late, so I appreciate the suggestions!
