Where did your baby nap/diaper change other than bedrooms?

I am still in the process of registering.  We live in a 2 story house.  I am wanting some things for the baby on our first level for naps and diaper changes etc.  I was wondering what everyone bought and used for these purposes.  Thanks.

  • I purchased the Graco day2night sleep system for this reason. I love it!

  • We had a rock and play sleeper in our living room for our last . This time around we have a pack and play in the living room since my son is still little and it wouldn't be safe to leave baby in anything like a rock and play , swing or bouncer.
  • I just used a PNP with a bassinet and changer. I also have a bouncer on each floor.

  • He napped in my arms, a carrier, the infant seat, swing, or RnP for the first 7 months or so. We never had a changing table. We just used a changing pad on the floor, bed, or couch.

  • We got a pack and play with the bassinet and changing table set up. We kept it in the living room and changed him there a lot instead of going back to his room constantly. As far as napping, he pretty much napped in someone's arms, in his swing or on the boppy until he was like 5 months old.

I know a few people who used moses baskets for naps and loved them. DS was way too light of a sleeper to be picked up and put down a bunch so it wouldn't have worked for us, but it's another option.

What we had:  Pack n play with diaper changing station downstairs.

What we USED:  Rock n play for naps (when she didn't just nap in my arms) (I carried it downstairs everyday) and changed all diapers upstairs in the nursery.

To be honest, going up and down the stairs was nice added exercise and I didn't feel like it was inconvenient at all.   I bought an extra Rock n play this time around because it was so useful so now we will have one on each level.  I'm still planning on changing all diapers up in the nursery.   I hated changing diapers on the floor, as some people do, it hurt my back.

  • We have one of the fancier Graco PnP - with changing station and newborn napper - set up in our living room. DS napped GREAT in the newborn napper for the first 3 months.  We changed him at the changing station. However, the changing station is kind of flimsy, I think it says it can be used up to 25 lbs? but there's NO way... it's only supported on 1 side, so it tilts down the unsupported side.  It started tilting quite a bit by the time DS reached 10 lbs or so.  My DH actually placed a piece of wood underneath to support it, so we used it until he was 15-16 lbs or so.

We used one of the Graco PNPs with the newborn napper and changing station attachments in our family room.  It was great - especially the attached changing station when I was recovering from a c-section and getting up and down was not too fun.  Once DS got too big for the napper and the changing station we took them off and still used the regular PNP.  In fact, at 14 months, we still put him in there daily for a few minutes when we get home from daycare.  It has ben worth every penny!

  • We actually ended up buying a second (cheapie) changing table for downstairs since that is where we spend all our time.  That worked out well for a while because not only did we have a place for all our diaper supplies, but we also kept some extras clothes, burp rags and blankets in there.  Once my kids got to the really wiggly and squirmy phase I felt like it was safer to change them on the floor.

When they were tiny I either held them while they napped, or they napped in the swing or bouncer (both in our living room).  Now that they are older Grant naps downstairs (he usually takes a shorter nap than his brother) and Garrett naps in his crib.

Honestly since we have a two-story house I felt it was a lot easier to do everything on the main floor (and the bedrooms are on the second floor), than to go back and forth.  IF I had just had one baby it might have been different.

  • Upstairs the baby was in our room. Downstairs we had a Pack N Play and a JJ Cole Diaper caddy.

  • The only place I ever change(d) DD is either in her crib or on the huge ottoman in our living room. We never had a changing table. We change her on a mat on the floor or on said ottoman and keep the mat in a canvas bin along with diapers and wipes.

As for naps, the first four months, she napped in her swing or occasionally in the bassinet. Once we moved her over to the crib at 4-4.5 months, she napped and slept overnight there. The swing was AWESOME to have though.

  • For the first 9-10 months, I'd say 99% of the changes were done on the sofa. We kept a towel on the sofa to catch any leaks. Came in handy a few times.

  • We kept a change pad and extra diapers, wipes, and bum cream on the lower level and would just change DD on the floor.
As for naps, once she was about 2 1/2 months, she napped in her crib upstairs, but before that, she'd often snooze in her baby swing or in my arms.

  • I have a basket stocked with diapers, wipes and other frequently-used basics in the living room for changes when we are downstairs.

As far as sleeping goes, I usually held her because I wanted every bit of snuggling I could get. If I did put her down it was either in her swing or on the Boppy Lounger (which I originally thought would be a waste but I loved if!).

  • We have a changing table, but we almost always do our diaper changes on the floor, in whatever room we feel like! I still like the changing table as a place to organize all the supplies, but I just find it so much easier to actually change diapers down low where I don't have to worry about baby trying to wriggle out of my reach. We keep extra wipes in our bedroom and sometimes a few diaps.
  • I had this same issue...I almost always changed my kids in the main area of my house (family room). I sew and have an etsy shop so I set out to make a changing pad and diaper storage. It's super awesome for us.

Here it is if your curious:

When dd was really little, she napped in the swing or sometimes with the boppy pillow around her on the couch. We also just changed her diaper on the couch or floor.

We had a change pad on the dresser in her room but seriously used it like, 5 times ever. We changed her on the bed in our room while she was sleeping in there, and then on the floor once she was in her own room. I wouldn't bother with a change pad for our new baby.

  • We registered for a pack and play for one floor, and have the change table for the nursery on the other floor.  I intend to have a portable diaper change station with the pack and play and have the full change table stocked.  I'm not really into changing babies on the floor, bed or other places.
