It's Happening. I'm Freaking Out.

I posted earlier this week about my department being shut down but being spared myself. This woman - their current director has been a walking HR nightmare for years and is finally gone. I hate that other people also lost their jobs, but I know we'll be bringing several of them back on in a few months. Remember when I posted this?

Well it's happening.

I just do not know how to feel these days. As you can imagine, everyone is really emotional. I'm just venting. No real point to this post. I'm so torn between crying and tap dancing. I'm losing my friends...but they may come back...to work for me...that horrible woman is gone...I'm going to be a Director...WTF am I doing...OMG.

Thanks for reading this.

  • Take it all in and keep it one step at a time.  You have a sweet promotion-- celebrate!  If your friends come back to work for you-- Double celebrate!  With booze!!!

Congrats on the promotion Ms.Jade!  This is huge and you should really give yourself a pat on the back - what an exciting time for you.  You've worked hard and it's paying off.  Try not to let the guilt you feel (for your friends) put a damper on how exciting this is. You are qualified and can do the job better than the person doing it now.  Seriously, way to go girl.  Congrats again!

  • Wow, congratulations!!  As nerve-wracking as it may be, there's a reason they picked you to be the Director and not someone else :)  Good luck, and keep us updated on how the new position is going!

  • If they come back, they'd rather work for you, right?  So this isn't bad news for them.  Other than their job loss, obviously.

You're doing your best and are being rewarded, there's nothing to feel sorry for in that sense.

  • Thank you everyone. Obviously I can't talk about this with anyone at work (though DH has been great and I'm meeting up with my BFFs tonight for dinner to go over every single detail) and it's just so overwhelming. No one knows I've been tapped for the position (though no one will be surprised if for no other reason than that I'm the only one left!) so now there are all these rumors about the direction of the department and I can't say anything. I feel like I'm walking a tight rope until they are all gone and an official announcement has been made. I really appreciate all of the support I've found on here. You guys are so sweet.
