Do You Slouch?

I do, badly. It's terrible and I know it looks terrible. I am on a mission to stop this habit. My mother has perfect posture and I really want to stand and sit more like her. I'm not expecting to be perfect, but maybe to stop stooping like a little old lady. It is much harder to remember than I thought. Any tips for breaking a hard habit? Do you have any habits you want to get rid of?

Re: Do You Slouch?

  • My whole family slouches pretty badly and I just started doing it all the time now after DD was born. My husband commented on it so I try to be mindful of it. Most of the time though, I am not even realizing that I am doing it.

  • Yes, I have terrible posture. I have really been trying to get better about all the slouching.  I often catch myself slouching and try to sit/stand up better.

My mom is a ballet dancer and she gave me a hard time about slouching every time! She would stick her nails in my back so that I would break the habit... it hurt. I'm thankful for it now, though. I still slouch sometimes. Here they sell bras with a crisscross back that helps with your posture, maybe you could look into them.

  • I have always had back issues and this is such a problem with me. I used to have a brace that helped but it would dig under my armpits and was so uncomfortable. DH is always squeezing my shoulders gently to remind me to stand up straight. I wish I could just remember...ugh!

I do and i hate it! I hate what i look like when i catch myself in a mirror slouching. I have ginormous breast on a smaller frame so that doesnt help.
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'm seriously considering putting neon post it notes all over my house to remind me :)

  • I used to have really good posture before I had LO. Now, I feel like I constantly have to remind myself to stand and sit straight.

  • Yes, badly. The only time it's really gotten better is when I was doing Pilates at least 3 times a week.

  • I'm another one that's always had horrible posture. I feel like it's gotten worse since having DD. I'm trying to work on it because I don't want DD to slouch like I do, but it's so hard. I'm constantly having to remind myself and straighten up.
