Frustrated with people...

My DD is 9 weeks old, born at 34 weeks. Every time people find out I had my baby early they ask what I did or "had" wrong with me. I think the question bothers me because, I have no idea why she came early. I didn't have an complications, my BP was normal, it wasn't a high risk pregnancy... she just came early. We were lucky and she spent only a few hours in NICU before they decided she was to be moved to the regular nursery. People actually have asked "Wow, what did you do wrong?". Anyone else have this frustration or experienced this?

  • They really do say some of the stupidest things. "Well, at least you didn't have to be big with the heat coming." Yeah, because it was MUCH more comfortable to watch my child struggle to breathe..."Will she, you know, be normal?" I don't know.. will you? "Why isn't she doing ____ yet?" Well, because she was 5 weeks early and is really only __ weeks. "Oh well at least she doesn't look like those alien babies." OMG, did you seriously just say that! GRR!

  • Thanks ladies. It does make it seem easier knowing that I may not always have to listen to the idiots of the world comment on my child or her birth. Sorry to vent Smile
  • People are so rude! Yeah, racing to have a baby is a legit thing! I had two friends, one due a week before me and one due 2 weeks after, and they BOTH made stupid comments on facebook like that as well. Sorry you have to deal with that, it can be so hard when people say stupid things not to throat punch them. LO was 5lb 6oz and now she is starting to really fill out her clothes, we even are up to newborn sized things. Everyone always comments on how tiny she is... but honestly, my hubz was born right on time and he was just a little bit bigger than she was.
  • Yep! That's her at 2 weeks and this is her at 8 weeks!

Oh my goodness she is adorable! I love that big smile!

Vent away! Unfortunately, there are a lot of ignorant people out there who have absolutely no filter in what they say. I am sorry you had to listen to that.
