My LO has been battling his first cold since Friday. Yesterday the doctor told me not to try to suck anything out of his nose since that could irritate it further, but recommended using a saline rinse. I forgot to ask her about this since I had so many other questions, but HOW exactly do you do a saline rinse with a one year old? Obviously he is too little to use a neti pot, and don't you have to know how to sniff in a saline spray? He's not going to understand that, let alone allow me to get anywhere near his nose for longer than 2 seconds. Is there some kind of product out there for toddlers? Any help is greatly appreciated....thanks!
Re: Saline rinse
We have used a mister like this:
It worked pretty well.
Same here.
This. There's also a version by Arm & Hammer. You are not actually supposed to sniff it, just squirt it in there so the gunk drains out. My LO thinks it's fun and will grab the can and try to do it himself.
i use this on LO twice per day. He hasn't gotten sick in months since I started. And he barely has dried boogers
the arm and hammer one drips out of his nose. The little noses squirts right up there. I prefer it better.
Awesome guys, thank you. Off to CVS to try some of the Little Noses stuff.
