Babies: 9 - 12 Months

food textures

DD has been doing great with food! 3 meals a day. Snacks. 4 or 5 bottles. She is 10 months old and has always done really well with foods- even when we started purees- she loved everything I made for her!

Lately EVERYTHING I give her she spits out! I can't tell if it is a texture thing or not. But she almost seems offended that I fed it to her in the first place, and I'm like, 'honey, you love waffles!' as she spits in on her tray and throws it on the floor!

Someone please tell me this is a phase that will pass.... like tomorrow!

I made 4 things for her for dinner tonight and non were successful! And she's had them all and likes them! I've watched her devour these things before and now nothing...

ugh. help!!!

Re: food textures

  • Maybe she is teething. My LO eats less when he is.

Lol this sounds like my DD! I just want her to eat so ill offer all kinds of food so she'll like something. I think it might be a phase. If she's really hungry she doesn't give me that hard of a time. Hope that helps.

  • This is normal.  At 10 months, she should be feeding herself finger food.  You may need to help with applesauce or yogurt.  She needs to exert her independence.

  • It was a phase for us. DS would put something in his mouth, then kind of drool it back out. It was disgusting to watch. He would also just completely refuse to eat at time, even if it was his favorite fingerfoods. I didn't want to encourage him to be picky, so if he wouldn't eat what I was giving him (and I knew it was normally something he liked) I didn't offer substitutes; however, I would give his next bottle a little earlier if he was acting hungry. He was still getting a normal amount of formula, so I didn't worry about him not getting enough nourishment.
