Too soon to tell?

We got our gender reveal u/s when we were 14 wks to the day. He told us it looks to him like a little girl. He doesn't see anything indicating a boy anyways. How accurate and right are these at 14? We haven't told anyone yet. I'm just curious to see everyone's experiences

Re: Too soon to tell?

  • We were told our gender at 14w 4d, and it was pretty convincing, but we are waiting just to make sure.

I would keep it to just yourselves until your a/s, where they will hopefully be able to tell you that LO is growing healthily and what sex. 14 weeks is still fairly early to be 100% sure. The tech told us at our 13 week NT scan that she was 70% sure LO was a girl but not to go buy anything yet- we didn't hold her to it and never thought about the sex after that until our a/s a couple days ago where, coincidentally, LO was in fact clearly a girl. But many women will tell you that the guesses their tech's gave them ended up being wrong. Just take it with a grain of salt and stick to gender neutral baby items for now if you can't resist the urge to buy something Smile

I wouldn't trust it just yet, I would wait till your a/s because that's when it's most accurate.

  • IMO, I'd wait. It's still pretty early. You're safer at 16 weeks.

This. We were told at 17 weeks we were having a girl with my first pregnancy (even though they should be pretty accurate then) and at 20 weeks DS was anything but a girl.

That's awesome!! Haha my husband loves this lo already but I'm sure he secretly wants that to happen so he can have his boy first!
  • I wouldn't trust it. When I had my NT Scan with my son they told us we were having a girl and I was around 13 weeks.

  • We were told at 14w1d at our NT scan. We asked the tech how accurate it would be and she said she wouldn't say unless she was sure. We'll have our AS on Monday so hopefully we can confirm as well at that time, if baby cooperates! We haven't told anyone what the tech told us till we're sure. 14 weeks seems too soon to be 100 percent sure...
  • We had our u/s at 14weeks 1day, and the sonographer said "that's defiantly a penis!" We go back on June 18th and will get to confirm.
  • We tried to look at 14wks said it was a girl but I'm 17wks now and it's definitely a boy so just wait to be on the safe side
  • We found out at 14 weeks (2 weeks ago) and at my ultra sound today it was confirmed again that it was a little girl.  I think the techs that do it are pretty good at it and have been doing it long enough that they know more than we do what to look for.  For the longest time I couldn't see most of what they were saying was in the scan.
