Maternity Workout Clothes

Does such a thing exist? I've only seen some things on Old Navy.

I'm a runner so I anticipate needing high impact bras (even if my pace is already sluggish!) and other things that are comfy to run in.

Do I just buy bigger sizes since I'll need that post-preg anyway or can anyone offer other places to get maternity workout clothes? (More affordable than Lululemon prices, please! Stick out tongue) TIA!

Re: Maternity Workout Clothes

  • Honestly, I've just worn my normal workout clothes the whole time.  My sports bras are a little tight at this point (39 weeks) but they still pretty much function the same and I'm working out 5-6 days a week doing an eliptical trainer (I go fast) or an hour of brisk walking and haven't had any issues.

  • I wore my regular sports bras with Old Navy maternity capris and larger sized t-shirts, some courtesy of my husband :) But I am not a runner so I don't know how comfortable that would be.

As a runner I had to get new sports bras first and then eventually a couple shirts (my husband is small so his only worked for a short time) and pants. I just went up in size on my sports bra brands. I got a pair of capris, couple pairs of shorts and two tops from Nike. Then when we did races I would register for a larger size tech shirt and use those too.

Athleta and Title 9 have great bras as you get bigger and need support.  Some are nursing bras as well.

For clothes, the selection is not great, I won't lie.  This is my 3rd and I'm a runner as well.  Try:  fit2bmom.com, fitmaternity.com, fortwofitness.com, bornfit.com

I wore normal clothes my entire pregnancy, but my breasts didn't change in size after the first 7 weeks and I only managed to gain weight in my belly, so I wore my regular pants under the belly and switched to some of my race shirts that were larges or "one size fits all"

  • I bought several things from www.fitmaternity.com

I got a pair of capri tights which were great even after pregnancy until I dropped all the weight and fit into my smaller regular gear.  I bought 4-5 tops which also lasted well and I still can wear even now 2 yrs later b/c they don't look "maternity".  The stuff is a little pricey but probably cheaper than lululemon.  It is good quality and the wicking fabrics were really good for me.  I don't workout in natural fiber clothing anymore b/c I sweat too much and it gets uncomfortable.

FWIW, I ran until ~31 weeks  but worked out 6 days a week until I delivered at 40w5d.
