Summer travel

I am swamped with grading exams and needed a brain break.

So what are your travel plans this summer?

We are going from FL to Michigan and got some tips from my sitter to entertain DD on the way: DVD player (will use ipad) and feed her solids in the car-slowly to pass time and entertain her.

Have any tips?

Where in Michigan? I can give you some ideas for fun stuff to do here.
When DS was little we'd have someone in the back to sing, make faces... Make sure to stop often. We drove to my sisters in April and the 5 hour drive was closer to 7.
We are going to DHs aunt and uncles cabin up north a few times and my sisters again for Labor Day. Maybe the Detroit zoo too. For sure the local zoo, but I have that one memorized.

I'm from West Michigan and we get a condo in Grand Haven each summer. It is the BEST place to be in the summer-Michigan is beautiful! Can't wait to show DD!

Good idea about sitting in back. We plan on doing that and stopping for an hour + every 4-5hrs (if we make it that long).

We are taking LO to meet her extended family in Maine in July. We don't have any other summer plans but I hoping to go someplace with a nice beach in November.

I grew up in Spring Lake, so right next door. I do miss that area a lot In the summer.

We're flying home to finish the meet-the-baby tour. We only had a week in the winter and our families are spread out, so some grandparents and friends were missed. We're spending a week at the cottage with DHs family, then a weekend just us in Niagara Falls to show DH all my favourite spots, then he flies home and I stay to take LO to all my family. It's going to be 15-20h of driving, but the longest stretch is only 5h, so we hope to time it so she sleeps a lot of the drives.

We are taking Rory to Virginia Beach in August for a mini vacay and then in October we're taking baby on a cruise. So we will be in St Thomas, St Maartin and Castaway Cay

In July, we are heading up north to Big Sur (south of San Francisco) to go tent camping. We will be gone about a week. We are going with a big group of friends and I am really looking forward to it.
