LO is almost 9 months and we've had a great time BF but my supply is getting lower and i'm starting to think about ending our BF time. i was planning to go for a year but its getting harder and i wouldn't mind stopping early.
i feel totally clueless about weaning. i assume i'd have to start supplementing with formula until he's 1 and can drink milk? any suggestions on what brands to start with? how much to start with?
i've got the BF thing down and am almost intimidated by weaning and formula.
thanks!
Re: switching to formula ?
ditto. I love gerber good start. I actually stopped BF early...didn't work out but LO tried Similac and Enfamil and Goodstart was best for us. Be prepared though for green poop but then again your little one is on solids I would guess and funny poop should be of no surprise.
I would start with 6oz bottles
All this. We really like the Gerber formula. We used Enfamil with DS which was fine but I've noticed Gerber doesn't smell bad or stain like the Enfamil did. We use Soothe because DD has reflux. We supplemented with it since she was around 3 months and she's been totally on it for the last 3 weeks. I cut out a feeding weaned over like a month (one feeding every 5-7 days) but you could certainly do like every 3 days so it doesn't take so long.
We used Similar and then I tried the Target Up and Up since it's comparable and about half the cost and he has done great with it! When I was weaning, he would bf in the mornings and then at daycare they would alternate feedings with a bottle of bm and then the next feeding would be a bottle of formula. Gradually we replaced the bm bottles with formula one at a time. He never had an issue with it!
Good luck!

I looked at the ingredients today. It's Similac Advanced with a different label. They have the exact same ingredients.
