Baby Names

Found a name...

that goes against everything I believe in but I actually really like it.

I'm almost afraid to post it, haha!

Ellison for a girl, hides..... I'm ashamed!

Last post of the day, I promise, maybe!

Lol! Nothing wrong with liking what you like. My daughter's name would not be a popular choice on the boards, but DH and I picked it out years ago and still love it.

    For what it's worth - I like Ellison :).

My cousin's daughter is Ellison. They call her Ellie. She is about 9 or so, and it suits her well.

  • I know an Ellison, occasional nickname of Ellie as well. It's cute!

  • I could probably never use it because in the back of my mind I would always think "son of Ellis" unfortunately!

  • I wouldn't side-eye the name.  It's NMS but I would think it's for a boy, not girl.  I've definitely heard way worse though.

  • I like it! NN could be Ellie.
  • Eeeek. You are turning to the dark side!

I love the names Elliott and Ellen (not as a sibset) but just can't get into Ellison. It reminds me of Emerson or Edison.  I have had those moments where I just love a name even though I'd never use it.

It's like the name Wednesday for me. Yeah, Wednesday. The Adam's family, the day of the week, etc. I still just find the name adorable with our very common short last name... and don't even get me started on nickname Wen/Winnie... Love! Embarrassing but it will also never happen. DH vetos my craziness.

Not a fan at all. Blech.Probably because Ellis is strictly a boy name to me, so Ellis son sounds extremely masculine to me, and not the slightest bit feminine.

I guess you missed the point of the post mj....

  • I don't think I could personally use it because it's my cousin's family's last name... but I kinda like it too :)

    Formerly known as KJLx121.
  • I'm sure that people would constantly mistake it for Allison.

  • I like Ellison but it's the name of a park in our town, so that's what I associate it with.   For what it's worth, I love the name Edison.  Total guilty pleasure.

Doesn't really matter. You post a new name, it gets opinions. Others did the same. You never said "I don't want to hear what you have to say about it."

I don't mind opinions but you worded it towards me or at least that's how it came across and I clearly said I wouldn't use it. No biggie. We can agree to disagree and move on.

I am actually on mobile and didn't pay attention what so ever to who wrote it, just saw "Found a new name..." and "Ellison" and gave an opinion.

Sometimes a response is just a response.

Sometimes it helps to read the responses to get the context of the situation as well. As I said, no biggie!

  • I'm used to hearing this as a surname around my area, so it doesn't immediately strike me as a girls name. Though, it is along the lines of Madison, so I guess it isn't completely out there. Honestly, I kind of love the name Arden for a girl, but it's my great-great grandfather's name so my family would think I'm crazy.
