We're traveling to see my parents for the 4th of July. Right now, I have us sitting in the very back of the planes, but there are still seats all over the place. However, none in the bulkhead (though I am going to call the airline to double check on that).
For those of you have traveled with older babies (last time we traveled with DS, he was 3 weeks, to put it in perspective), please let me know where you thought it was best to sit.
Re: Best seats on the plane for Mom, Dad and Baby?
DD was older when we flew with her (18 months) but we flew every other week for a year- I would say either the front or the back, primarily so that you are close to the bathrooms if needed; and if they are assigned seats as close to the front might be beneficial as you can get off quicker than if you're in the far back. If LO has been screaming for a while, the quicker exit the better.
Others might have an answer better suited towards your LO's age- and ask the flight attendants when you check in at the gate. Our travel was always booked through work so they would put me and DD together, and then DH was somewhere else so 80% of the time the attendants would put us in that front row because it was always reserved for someone who needs extra assistance. After someone with medical issues, families with young children are next on that list.
GL on your trip!
Flew with DS when 2mo. We were around the middle of the plane (seemed that's where all the kids were). Since I had to change a lot of diapers I was constantly getting up to use the bathroom at the rear with the change table, so maybe closer to the back of the plane would have been better.
my sis always buys the window and the aisle (not the middle) in hopes if having an empty seat, tho I don't.
I don't fly a lot, and my DD was a year and a half when we first flew with her.
I suggest the front for a few reasons;
People with babies usually get seated first, along with elderly/special needs.
If it's a turbulent flight, you will feel it more at the back of the plane.
It would likely be easier to get out of your seat if you're at the front.
Flights I've been on, people used the rear washroom more than the forward one, giving them more privacy. (everyone can see you going into the forward one)
Also, if you're using a carseat, that will have to be next to the window.
