baths

How long after your c/s did you have to wait to take a bath?

Re: baths

  • I have been told by my Dr to wait 6 weeks pp.

ETA: I am only referring to bath, but for showers, I showered the second day, my instructions were, showers, let soapy water run thru the incision, pat dry the incision and use a blow dryer on low setting to make sure the wound is dry, I had to do that with the steristrips as well.

  • I think until my incision looked healed and to help the steri-strips to come off. I wasn't giving any instruction as to how long, just to only take showers and turn away so the water wouldn't hit it.  I would ask your doctor about that one.

  • Just like PP I also was told 6 weeks to prevent all infection possible. Better to be safe than sorry.

  • I'm not a bath person so I haven't had a bath that I can recall in years. But I think I recall reading that it is recommended to wait 6 weeks so that everything inside can heal up. Now if you are asking about showering, then I showered at the hospital with a waterproof stick on bandage/covering oer my incision. Then about 10 days after the staples were removed I was allowed to shower without the waterproof cover. I still had the steri strips on and the doc said that the water would help them come off.
