How much does your LO drink/day?

I'm starting to worry that DS isn't drinking enough.  I'm trying to completely wean from bottles.  Before he was getting a milk bottle in the morning and at night before bed.  We've dropped the night one and have been doing milk in a sippy I the morning.  He barely will drink any of it.  Then he sips on water all day.  Yesterday he barely had any wet diapers and this morning was pretty much dry!  Part of me thinks I should just let him have the bottle in the morning so he will drink something. WWFMD?

  • I'm kind of going through the same thing.  I just cut out all my daughter's bottles this past Monday, and after I did that she wasn't drinking much milk the next two days.  My daughter would drink her usual water in her sippy throughout the day though.  I just had her 15 month appointment yesterday and my doctor wasn't worried as long as she was still drinking her water fine and told me she can get her dairy through other things like yogurt.  I will say though I bought a different sippy cup also yesterday and now she's drinking more milk again.  It's the soft spout munchkin one kind of like the nuby brand spout but smaller.  Maybe try a different style cup he might prefer better.

  • Most days Skyler drinks 6-8oz of water and maybe 1-3 oz of almond or coconut milk.  If I were to give her the milk in a bottle she'd probably guzzle it down.  I went through what you are describing and just gave up.  She had a few days of barely any wet diapers but she quickly adjusted and realized that she needs to drink.  When she's thirsty she drinks more.

  • My LO has probably 12-15 oz of whole milk and 4-8 oz of water.

Nolan drinks about 8-12 ounces of milk per day and 8-16 ounces of water.  It really varies by the day and his activity level.  I asked the pedi about his low milk intake and she said that as long as he was getting calcium from other sources (cheese, yogurt, etc), he was fine.  Could you try some juice?  When Nolan is having a "non-drinking" day, I dilute some apple juice with water and he usually drinks it right up because it is a treat he usually doesn't get.  Also, this may get me flamed, but we get Nolan chocolate milk sometimes if we are at a restaurant and he loves it.  It is only something he gets infrequently so I think that is why it is special.
