I should NOT have commmented

I need to learn to avoid controversial topics.

A friend of mine made a comment on facebook and I made a jest back in a disagreeing manner but it was all very civil and friendly. It was related to discipline and kids in public. He's got a few nephews DD's age so he understands this age even he doesn't care for the kiddos full time.

A few minutes later one of his friends whom I've never met starts berating me, saying I clearly need to "whoop her a**" because she can't behave properly in public or maybe she's just autistic/ and can't handle it.

So now I'm pretty upset bc even though she made it a point to tell me she has FOUR kids and they're all perfect ANGELS in public, I have this feeling she really doesn't know anything about toddlers.

So now I'm trying to calm myself down and not feed the troll.

  • You can't argue with stupid. No need to raise your blood pressure over it.

    Exactly. Clearly, she's a moron.

  • Well ya know, if her kids are perfect then we all have to listen to her right?!?! I wouldn't worry about it. Our kids are still babies and learning. They will become perfect angels in public in time.

  • Thanks ladies, I know she's not worth getting upset over, but something about her comments just hit a nerve and I needed to vent in a safe space.

  • Saw this the other day, but I was on mobile in the middle of the night and couldn't muster up the energy to reply.

I think the definition of "well behaved" varies a lot from one person to another. Personally, I think my kids are very well behaved when we're out. But I'm sure other people might disagree. I mean, I do let them loose at the store, and they do get a bit loud. BUT, they follow my rules (mostly): they stay within sight (for the most part), don't take things from the shelves without asking me first (usually), and there's no screaming/yelling (the "loud" part comes from them mostly squealing in delight as they get to "explore").

All this to say that your friend's friend may think her kids are angels, but they could actually be monsters compared to yours. Or she could also just be full of sh!t.
