When you start feeding solids how much do you start with? I heard just one meal a day, of solids the rest still breast milk or formula. If that's true when do you increase it and by how much (solids)?
I believe you go by your baby's cues. Most of time, the baby is only going to tolerate a couple teaspoons at a time the first couple attempts, then once a day and so on. Under a year its mainly just practice anyway. They will let you know when they had enough.
What I've heard is food before 1 is just for fun and that milk consumption shouldn't decrease noticeably until then. Your baby might get better at drinking more in fewer feedings than right now but you shouldn't really be cutting back for a while still.
What I found with my girls is that they took the same amount of milk (or at least seemingly as we nursed) from 2 months to a year. As their appetite increased after 6 months we added more solids in, but did not decrease the milk.
It is recommended to start slowly in order to give baby a chance to get used to the new texture, taste etc. You should definitely continue to offer breastmilk or formula as a primary meal. Start with a tablespoon/day and see how baby reacts.
Re: Solids (may be stupid question)
In the beginning a tablespoon or two is enough, after LO has been given a full milk meal.

Yep! This is what I did/will do!
