DS has been a pretty good sleeper for several months, no problem going to bed (generally), sleeps through the night, and wakes up at the same time. We moved recently though, and since then he just sobs when I put him to bed and either continues to cry inconsolably or sits there desolate until I check on him, which is when he looks at me with the saddest eyes and holds up his arms for me to pick him up, and then clings to me. Once he does finally fall asleep, he often wakes up during the night and gets up at all different times, which has seriously affected his nap schedule and mood. Is this normal? I'm sure a move is a lot to deal with at 18 months and hope he will adjust, but I just feel awful every night when he sounds so upset.
Re: Trouble sleeping after move?
We moved when DS was 14 months, and his sleep was off for a few weeks. He fussed for longer, woke up a couple times a night, and needed the second nap again. I had to redo some sleep training to get him to stop waking at night, and his nap schedule stabalized as a result. I also let him play in his room during the day so it wasn't such a scary place at night.
Moves are tough, and LOs usually need an adjustment period. I suggest keeping the bedtime routine relaxing but happy. He'll stabalize back into a sleep schedule in no time.
