  In what way does it hurt? Like numb? Maye you were cutting off your blood supply if you were laying on your back?
  Maybe a pinched nerve and the pain is traveling down to your butt? Go see a chiropractor! It's amazing!

  It's like an ache and I thought so too about lying on my back so I've started putting a pillow under my side so I wouldn't be completely on my back and it still hurts. Thnx for the suggestion I'm gonna look into tht

  Sometimes my side and butt hurt when I fall asleep and don't move at all for a loooong time. It's just like sore from lack of movement and blood flow. Try adding pillows all around!

  Sounds like your sciatic nerve. Mine had been really bad lately too making it hard to do most anything.
