30 min naps?

Try to do most naps in crib he will only sleep 25/30 min. If I have him in a swing sometimes longer but don't want that to become a routine bc he will grow out of it soon.

Any help/advice on getting baby to nap longer? He does about 30 min every 2 to 2.5 hrs.

Re: 30 min naps?

  • My lo is a 20 to 30 minute napper if I'm lucky she will sleep an hour. No matter where she sleeps she will wake up after a short time. The positive is that she will sleep from 730 or 8 til about 7 or 8 in the morning. She will usually wake at 6 for a bottle then go right back to sleep. So I think that's a good trade off as long as she's not cranky .

  • Mine does 30 min naps some days, but on those days she naps probably 5 or 6 times. When she takes 1-1.5 hour naps there is only 2-3 naps. So really, it's the same amount of sleep during the day.

Honestly I just take what I can get. Do you darken the room? Or swaddle? On the days my LO tends to have longer naps, she doesn't get her first nap until after 10, and she wakes up at 7. Maybe try seeing if your LO will stay awake a little longer in between naps?

  • We put our DD down every 2 hours. Sometimes she sleeps 25 mins and sometimes she'll make it to 45. If it's a 25 min nap we will try to get her back to sleep and are willing to spend 30 mins getting her back to sleep if she seems tired still. I assume you're doing the white noise, dark room ect, is she swaddled? Sleep Suit? These things might help. A couple times this week she actually slept 2 hours which is unheard of in this house! Pretty much the usual is 30 mins every two hours.

  • DS is also only doing 30 minutes naps lately. If I pick him up and hold him he'll keep sleeping, but if I leave him in the crib when he wakes up he'll cry and just be completely awake. then i'm dealing with a cranky baby until he tries to nap again. Before the last week he would at least take a 1 hr nap in the late morning. lemme know if you figure anything out!
