OK to wake clocks suggestions and advice

My 19 and 34 month old share a room. They have been waking each other up earlier and earlier, and I am super tired. We already have black out curtains and a sound machine. Do you think an OK to wake clock will help? I'm not sure if my 19 month old will get it. Any suggestions on which clock? Any other suggestions sleep in suggestions?

They go to sleep at 8pm and have been waking up well before 6am.

  • I got the Teach Me Time clock for DS when he was just under two.  It turns green at wake-up time, so if your younger son knows colors yet, it could work.  It has been a life-saver for us!  Daylight means nothing to DS.  He got up at 4:30 a.m. every day of his life until we got this clock.  Within a few nights, he was sleeping until it turned green (we set it at 5:45 because that is what time he needs to get up on weekdays).  I only wish it had a weekend feature (sigh).

  • We bought this one (only for cheaper via ebay) and now he knows "red, stay in bed".  Ever since we've had it he's been sleeping through the night and still in his own room in the morning!  We started some sleep training too to be fair. :)

  • We have a MyTotClock (mytotclock.com), and I like it.  Like anything, you have to teach them to follow the rules of it, and some kids take to that more easily than others.  We started with her (can't get out of bed until the clock turns yellow!) when she was around 18mo?  Maybe a little younger, but I don't remember.  For morning, it works great, as it did for naps when she was doing them.

  • Thanks! I'm ordering one.
  • My daughter will sometimes get up early, and when she comes into our room, we will just say, "Morgan, it's too early to get up. Go back to bed." She will then 9 times out of 10 go back into her room and either lie in bed looking at a book or just play quietly in her room for a little while.
