breathing and movement monitor

Please recommend your breathing/movement monitor. I know absolutely nothing about them, so please explain to me why you like/dislike yours.

I know some people will say they aren't necessary, and can sometimes give false alarms, but I want one. DS had apnea issues early on and was sent home on a hospital heart monitor which is the only reason I was able to sleep! I hope baby #2 won't have the same issues, but I would like to have our own breathing monitor for peace of mind.

TIA!

Re: breathing and movement monitor

  • We have an angel care monitor for DS2 and love it. We have a pretty basic model no video, one parent device and are really happy with it. My DH is a compulsive "breathing checker" of our boys at night, and this has helped him a lot. We are going to get a Snouza for 3 as the angel care doesn't work great in a PNP and that is where she will be sleeping for the first few months in our room, however when she goes back to her crib, she will use the Angel Care.

I have a Snuza and think its great.  I like that it stays with the baby because he often naps in places that are not his crib.  DS had RSV and respiratory failure when he was 3 weeks old and the Snuza alarmed us that he wasn't breathing.  It easily could have saved his life.
