Infertility

Am I being Punished?

So I had Monitoring Appt #2 today.  Good growth, a bunch over 15, but still stimmed today.  ER probably on Saturday.

That's not the bad part.  I woke up today with a majorly red eye.  My eye doctor thinks its from leaving my contacts (which are designed to be worn overnight for a week) in for too long.  I left them in 3 nights.

Ugh so now my left eye is SO red and SO painful and SO gross.  I mgith stay home from work tomorrow just because I look so bad.  So now my "full work week" due to a delayed ER is totally in question.

I also really hope that this doesn't have an impact on IVF. It can't...right?

Re: Am I being Punished?

  • If it is painful, and leaving your contacts out + using eye drops isn't helping the pain, I might give your eye doctor a call. I highly doubt it will have any impact on your cycle, but she/he might give you some drops to help.

This used to happen to me really frequently when we first started treatment-  I was teaching at the time, and my students called it "Zombie eye." lol  I went to the eye dr. twice, and she didn't find any irritant or infection, so she dubbed it a stress response.

Even though it sucks, I hope that's all it is for you too!

PS- Congrats on the good monitoring appt and fx for a great ER and fert report!

  • You are not being punished.  My friend has a weird eye thing from her contacts right now too.  She has multiple ulcers on her eyes.  I hope you get to feeling better.  Anything wrong with your eyes is scary.  FX for your ER :) I think you'll be fine.

    Hi there... Optometrist here.
First, this won't have any impact on your IVF. Secondly, it's probably inflammatory and you most likely will need a steroid eye drop to clear it up. If you have any sort of discharge, it might be bacterial also. If it doesn't get at least 50 better by tomorrow, you should try to have it looked at.
It's a really annoying and painful thing to happen to the eye and I'm sorry that you have to deal with that on top of everything else. Let me know if you have questions. Feel better....

  • Thank you ladies!  i did go to my doctor this afternoon and he said that it was likely a burst blood vessel (not sure if that is right) and he gave me some antibiotic eye drops.  I also picked up some Visine drops to help with the pain.

I think the thing I was most worried about was an effect on IVF.  I can deal with sore eyes or having to take another day off.  I just cannot deal with another set back if I can prevent it.

Thank you so much for responding.  I don't think I have a steroid eye drop, but I will for sure ask tomorrow.  On top of everything, my glasses broke so I was on to only contacts, which I obviously can't use right now.  I had to order glasses to be made overnight and I will pick them up tomorrow so I'll ask the doc.
