prayers and fx please

I know I don't post too often but I really need prayers. I went on an interview for a teaching job in the town I live in yesterday and really hope I get a call for a second interview! I really need this job... I currently work in a low income city school and have for the past three years and I need a change I'm fed up with the lack of discipline so the students are getting more and more out of control and disrespectful picture bell ringing for class to start and 4050 of the students still in the hall with no rush to get to class and they dont care about getting detentions or iss, and if you say something to them they curse you out and tell you to mind your business plus its a commute so I would love to be close to DS

  • Ugh, unless it is something that you really feel passionately about, those districts can really wear on you quickly!

I hope you get the 2nd interview, it sounds like it would be a better situation for you guys.

  • Good luck! I teach in an alternative school for students with emotional and behavioral problems, so I can definitely relate. I'm praying I get a few interviews this summer. Hopefully you get it! I'm sure it will help you have experience!

  • Sending you lots of positive vibes!

FWIW - I teach in a wealthy school district and it's the same ... they have money, their family is in the good with the principal so you can't do anything.  I gave up on disciplining students outside of my room.  The parents pretty much tell me what I teach in my room.  And if they don't like what I say, they threaten to sue me.  no joke - I'm a special education teacher so it's a little different.

This was my exact thought!  The burn out for low income schools is high but you get GREAT experience.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that the district you've applied to sees that you'll be among the most valuable teachers coming from that background!

  • Good luck girl!  If I remember correctly, (and I'm 99.9% sure) you live in my home state of CT...I have a bazillion friends who are teachers and principals all over the state.  It's crazy how wildly different things can be from one town to the next!
