Independent v. Agency?

Just curious what your experiences have been working independently with a GS or through an agency. I've actually found a potential surrogate that I really like who lives out of state, so I'm not sure how exactly to proceed should we move forward. Does anyone have any resources I could read, or any input about the process?

    I just delivered as a GS through an agency.  I considered going indy but my agency matched me first.  I liked that they pretty much told us what needed to be done and when (though hindsight, they didn't really tell me anything I didn't know), I also liked that IP's and I didn't have to talk about the business side of it, and all of the money being in an escrow was added security that my bills would be paid).  From and IP stand point, you have a pro looking over your GS's insurance policy, they take care of the psych testing, and they can get a feel for your GS before you're matched (when my IP's signed with the agency, their previous indy GS was terrible with contact, our coordinator knew that I was excellent with communication).
