Hi All --
My son just turned 4 months old and we're scheduled for his regular pediatrician's 4 month visit late this week. We now also have a funeral to attend at this time. I'm trying my hardest to reschedule his appointment, but the pediatrician's office keeps saying that there is nothing available until late August. Is it OK to basically skip his 4 month visit and just go to the 6 month appointment? That seems to be what they are suggesting. At this point, I'm not sure what to do...
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Kate
Re: 4 Month Appointment 2 Months Late?
I know that we are getting another round of immunizations at four months, and then again (I believe) at six months. For us, delaying the four month appointment by two month would disrupt the booster series and our doctor would find a way to squeeze us in, but there are also three pediatricians and three PA's in the office that can help accommodate these types of issues.
I would call and leave a message for your nurse with the concern. In the past I have learned that the schedulers go by the schedule, but the nurses are aware of the necessity (or lack there of) that may be present with each individual case. The nurse can tell the scheduler to make room, whereas on her own the scheduler just does her job.
That said, I would not feel comfortable with a pedi office who books so far in advance and has no wiggle room for changes.
Good luck.

Thanks All! I called again and this time, spoke with a more experienced receptionist and re-explained the situation. She said that I didn't need to wait and she squeezed me in for early next week.
Thanks again for all your advice!
