Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Putting to sleep at night

So my almost 8 month old has just started last week to become a little difficult to put to bed! Just last week, I was able to give him a bottle and he would fall asleep at my arms, put him in the crib, and i'd see him the next morning when he woke up!  Starting this past Saturday, he cries (more like moaning bc there arent really any tears!) when I try to give him the bottle and gets all wiggley..I know he's absolutely exhausted because after 15 min of this, I put him in his crib and he'll fall asleep within 10 min or so...is this what happens with age or i'm beginning to think something is bothering him (although i dont know what!)?

Re: Putting to sleep at night

  • I am having the same problem right now too, although LO is only 7 months. I don't know if it is normal but it is driving me nuts.  She used to be so easy to put to bed and now it is a fight every night.  I hope it is just a wonder week thing and not her new routine.

  • My DS isn't even 7 months yet, but we went through the exact same thing last night. The moaning was crazy, even with a pacifier in he did it. I tried a bottle since he was sucking on his pacifier but all he did was wiggly and push it away. I thought teeth so I tried Sophie, which he takes whenever his gums hurt, and he just threw her on the ground. Finally I just put him in his crib, he would fall asleep for about 40 minutes and then start all over again. I hope it was just a fluke and doesn't become a regular thing!

  • ah well hopefully tonight is a new night for all of us! i have a feeling it's his teeth.  i am going to start using his teething tablets before he goes to sleep and see if that helps!
  • This started all when LO turned 5 mo 1/2! I was shocked he becamed so difficult. Before this he had even started to fall asleep on his own and then I couldn't even lay him on his crib without a scream fest. But one night after an hour of attempts to get him to sleep, I resorted in desperation to CIO. Please, don't judge, I know I was against it too but hey, at this point he had just turned 6 months and I was at the end of my rope. I figure what's the harm the first 3 tries he cried but the second day he cried for a minute tops and after a week he whines when I lay him down and falls asleep and bedtime and nap time have become soo much easier. I am not suggesting anyone follow in my steps but some time of sleep training will probably help

  • Been in the same boat with my now 7 month old for the last month or so.  I'm exhausted.  I know we need to work on some hard core sleep training, but it's a really difficult thing during the work week.  I'm starting to think that my son's gums are itching him a lot too, which isn't helping his waking up situation any.

Or little guy just turned 7 months- about 2 weeks ago he started whining and thrashing around while trying to fall asleep at bed time. I thought maybe  it was gas but just 2 days ago his first tooth broke through! I'm thinking that may be what the problem is!
