We're moving and will finally start using our nursery furniture for DD2, who is still in our room in a PNP right now. However, when she is out of the crib, we'd then want to use that set for DS, and we have a different (white hand-me-down cute set) that we would later use for DD2. So, for now, for DS I need a cheap bed/dresser that we'd use for just a couple years until he moves into the converted nursery furniture.
Any recommendations? Second-hand would be great but not sure when I have time to check out consignment stores or rummage sales, so it might just be easier to get something new.
Re: Cheap but decent kid furniture?
Both of my kids sleep in beds from Wal-mart. They both have "captain's" style beds, with a bookshelf at the top and drawers underneath. Both are made of composite material, but have stood up well. (Note -- I allow NO jumping at all!)
DD has been in hers since she was 6, so about seven years, and her bed is basically in pristine condition. They cost about $130 each.
If I was in your situation, I'd try Walmart or Target.

Ikea has nice inexpensive stuff. Check out the malm set.
