I typically do gift cards for end of year - Target, spa cards, Starbucks or the bookstore. I have a friend who does a basket of books and other supplies for the classroom but I tend to do stuff like that for Christmas/Hanukkah and I like to treat to the teachers at the end of the year - they deserve a little spoiling at this point.
For the classes that have more than 1 teacher like my DD"s before care program where there are a lot of staff - I tend to bake something (did cupcakes this year) or bring in a basket of some sort of goodies for all the share vs individual gifts.
Gift cards are anywhere from $10-$25 depending on the role the person played (more for the main teacher than the aide or speech therapist - speech sees my older DD 2 times a week for 20 mins each on average vs the teacher who is with her the majority of the day all 5 days).
I gave plastic Copco cups with Crystal Light mixes in them with little notes saying, "Thank you for quenching my thirst for knowledge." I got the idea from Pinterest.
I also saw Target gift cards with the note, "Thanks for keeping my learning on Target."
I organized class gifts this year and went in on gifts with the other moms. We did a big canvas bag with all the kids handprints and the class year, then filled the bag with summer goodies and gift cards... Beach towel, sun block, bug spray, magazine, suduko book, Barnes and noble gift card, bag of chips with subway gift card attached, orange leaf gift card, Starbucks gift card, chic fil a gift card, freeze pops, a big pitcher with lemonade mix inside, etc
Re: Presents for teachers
I will give a gift card. My teacher friends say that is better than another candle or body lotion.

I've given Target gift cards and the year before Barnes & Noble gift cards.

I'm a sucker for a good corny saying.
