Hi there! Just turned 41...starting our first IVF cycle this week, and I'm nervous. Have never had successful PG, fighting partially blocked tubes, low S count/poor motility...and a pituitary tumor (now under control), we decided its now or never. So what's $30k in the long run, right?

We are doing Attain...which means 4 IVF tries (2 fresh, 2 FET)...I'd like to score the first time out

Looking for support, ideas and to hear about others' journeys...and hoping for inspiration, too

Hi and welcome,

I just finished my first egg retrieval for IVF and had my three eggs frozen. Now, I am in the middle of preparing for my FET, which should be in the 10th week of June, two weeks...... I remember it was a bit overwhelming at the beginning, but you will get the hang of it. It is just getting over the initial poking of yourself, unless you are going to have your partner do that. And, trying to keep yourself neutral from stress due to thinking too much about your follicles growing, how many there are and when they are retrieved....ugh, the agony of worry, if they are going to make it.....my three eggs were slow growing, so we don't have too much confidence that anything will stick, but I leave that with God and his plan to see what he wants for me. So, Fx'ed all goes well. He is transferring all three of them, so you can tell that the doctor doesn't think they will stick or go too far either, but I am just happy to have all my babies back with me and we can go through this process together.....

Glad to hear that your tumor is under control and not giving you any problems, so you can move forward with IVF.....yeah, it can be a bit of moola but it is worth it, for sure! Smart that you got a package deal.

I hope that you will find this board supportive, knowledgeable and fun.....we are all going through this fun stuff called IF and trying to make the most of it, together......

Hope this first cycle is yours and you can just have some repeat performances for a couple of more, siblings to complete for family.....

Best of luck and keep us posted on how it goes. What medicine protocol do they have you on and for how long before retrieval and transfer?

Thanks so much for the warm welcomes. As far as my upcoming cycle.

Wed (6/5) is suppression check w US and lining baseline check.

Saturday we start with Lupron, then add in Gonal & Menopur. Not sure when the HCG shot is...but the probable retrieval on 6/21 and 3 day transfer on 6/24.

Right now, I'm most worried about the suppression check...I've been bleeding and cramping with the BCP, but the nurse says that okay (just freaks me out).

Looking forward to following this board!

Good luck to you! I'm 37, have unexplained IF and never been pregnant. It's been a tough road for us 3, iuis and 2 IVFs thus far, TWW right now on 3rd IVF, first time with frozen embies. One of my friends had twins last year with IVF at 42 on her first frozen embie cycle!
