Parenting after a Loss

Not eating as much?

DS is over 5 months now and recently is refusing to eat. Around 4 months we started the "distracted eater" but I was usually able to get him to eat in his room in darkness or right before nap time/ or bed time with sound machine on. In other words, even if he avoided it, he still made up for it later on.

Anyone go through this? I'm not really worried about weight or anything (he is well above average). We haven't started solids yet either so thats not an issue.

Re: Not eating as much?

  • Could he be teething?

DD went through quite a few phases where she just wasn't interested in the bottle.

  • Jackson is 6 months and went through the same thing. He did it again about a week ago. People say teething? Jackson hasn't sprouted a tooth yet so I'm not sure? Even when starting solids we went a week with out those too because he had no interest?

How long has it been going on? DD definitely had quite a few 34 day stints of eating less, then she'd be back to typical again.

About 4 days so I'll see if he gets back to normal soon.

Interesting. I guess it's probably just a phase then.

DD seems to have 2 "off" phases when she is teething.  The phase before the teeth pop through and are moving around and the phase as they break through.

DD also had phases where she just plain got bored of the bottle.  You could try a faster flow nipple, maybe?

I'm still nursing but he also does it with bottles (fast flow) too so I'm thinking its more likely a phase or teething like you said.
