Anyone else's kid get Molloscum??

DD got it at Preschool or from her cousin and it's been almost a year. We went to the derm and they tried burning 2 off. It didn't seem to work really. I'm just wondering what others have done to clear them up.

  • Yes. We don't know where she got it, but it was over 8 months.

Her pedi sent us to a dermatologist. He used a chemical that he painted on each spot. It blistered and scabbed over. Once the scab healed the molloscum was gone. It took several treatments (3-4?) before we got them all since they easily spread.

We were prescribed a cream that I used every night before bedtime.  It did take months, probably 6-8 mths before all the spots cleared up.

DD had them and had to see a dermatologist every month.  They put this "bug juice"( made from a crused beetle or something) on each spot.  They covered it with tape and we had to wash the area with water after waiting 45 min - 1 hr.  It causes the area to scab over and hopefully the molloscum is gone.

DD had lots of them in the back of her knee.  They are highly contagious and she also got one on her rear end.  Don't share towels or bath water.  Clean tub throughly after each use. DS never got them from her and thankfully she's molloscum free now.

ETA:  It took months of going every month to the derm

  • I have a friend whose 3 yr old daughter had it. They used the cream recommended on this site https://www.molluscumclinic.com/. Used once per day for less than a month and it was gone!

    Even the pedi was amazed!

  • Ds1 had them for two years before they finally all cleared up. Ds2 has one on his tummy that has been there for several months and isn't going away so annoying! It's the only one he has and hoping he doesn't get anymore. We did blister bettle juice with ds1 and before that did a variety of other treatments that didn't do much.
  • Our pedi is pretty sure that our DD has molloscum and told us that it would "run it's course." After doing some research and finding out it's contagious, we have an appointment with a dermatologist. DD has it on her face,  neck, belly and shoulder.
