Success after IF

We caved

After 3 nights and 2 days of terrible sleep for everyone, we caved. We put her back in the suit last night and she slept like an angel all night without a single peep. I hate that we gave up on ditching the suit so quickly, but we all really needed some sleep. We still put her down awake though and she fell asleep on her own without crying. Maybe we will try again in a few weeks.

I agree. She put herself to sleep and STTN! Those are good things. :)

  • That's OK! You know when the time is right and what works for your family. Sleep is very important.

We thought dd would have to be swaddled when she got older and went to sleepovers, lol.

I think we're going to run into the same challenges. H doesn't sleep as long or as well when he isn't swaddled. I keep hoping that one day he'll just decide he doesn't need it anymore, but I know that's wishful thinking.

I also agree, cranky mom = cranky baby/DH. Get some sleep!!

Thanks everyone! I was feeling pretty guilty like I was taking the easy way out instead of working harder. But maybe she just isn't ready. And that's fine. She actually smiled at me when I pulled it out of the closet. Like she knew she was in for a good nights sleep. Haha.

That is funny.  We used to say the same about DS - that he would have to have his college room mate swaddle him up before bed.  But once he could roll and liked to sleep on his tummy, he was fine unswaddled.  It took 3 tries to get him unswaddled though, every time I would give in and swaddle him up again.  finally we ferbered, and he did great.  My feeling is that you do what you have to to get some sleep for everyone.  Although then you end up with a 3 yo that has a binkie....but at least she slept really well for 3 years!!

Haha. MH asked if the suit came in teenager size just in case. It's amazing what you'll do for a little sleep, even If you swore you never would. Never say never.

That's a really good thought Ducky! She gave it a hug last night. She doesn't have any other sort of attachment to things like that, no binky, no security blanket or stuffed animal. Very interesting thought!
