Detroit Babies

ferndale mom-to-be

Hey all!

My SO and I live in Ferndale - we're expecting our first baby on January 8, 2014.

We aren't married, and a bit nervous to tell people we're pregnant since it was a surprise (a wonderful one at that!) I know families come in all shapes and sizes these days, so I hope we are surrounded by support!

Especially living in an amazing neighborhood like Ferndale.. I'de expect we will be supported :)

I'de love to meet more moms-to-be or moms in the area. Or just hear about raising a child in the Ferndale area.

I'm 24, I'll be 25 when baby comes.. starting an internship at Quicken Loans next week. I've been quite sick and hated pregnancy so far in terms of the awful feelings accompanied ... but I love the child that is ours forever now!

Look forward to messaging with you all!

  • Hi!
Congrats on your pregnancy! I do not post on this board often, and I don't want to speak for other people, but you'll probably have better luck meeting local people getting advice and sharing your experiences if you check out your birth month board. This board is extremely slow, but maybe it will pick up. My daughter was born last year and our birth month board is still going. It has definitely dwindled down since the babies have arrived, and there have been some spin off FB groups started along the way. However, through that board I have met several MI moms and we've had GTGs with our LOs.
Not saying you shouldn't post here, but just a suggestion. Happy journey!

  • Of course you will be supported in Ferndale! Its on of the most welcoming cities I have ever lived in. (I now live in PHX, but was trolling this board to see what everyone is up to since its my hometown, and where I met my husband). How long have you lived there? I think you will find the natural baby store on 9 mile a fantastic resource for meeting fellow moms, as well as providing your baby with plenty of goodies.

  • Are you delivering at Beaumont? If you do, I would recommend signing up for the parenting program. It starts when your baby is about four months. We have met people that way. It's informative too.
  • Hey there!

First of all-CONGRATS! Being a mom is awesome and you will love it.

I live in Royal Oak and am 25. My son is 8 months so I was you a year ago. I grew up downriver and haven't really found any moms/moms to be to hang out with in the area and I would love to get together and maybe get some ice cream sometime!-treat dreams is sooo good!! I had a feeling icky the entire time pregnancy too so I understand what you are going through. If you'd like to hang out sometime, feel free to email me: saragrezlik@yahoo.com

     Good luck with your pregnancy!!
