So LIVID!!!!

My mom took DS to get his first haircut at the barber without my DH and I. WTH!!!! Im so hurt. You dont get those moments back. This isnt the first time she has overstepped her boundries. She watches M for us and if we continue to keep her we need to set some ground rules. Any advice or experience with writing up something? BTW the haircut is hideous and his bday is next weekend. His pictures are going to be awful.

I would be furious!!! You need to sit your mom down and talk to her about it. You say she has overstepped before so if you have already tried talking to her about it I would look for someone else to watch your DS. You are right. Those are moments that you don't get back. If she doesn't get that then it would be a huge issue for me. I am so sorry she did this.

I'm sorry! I don't have any advice but I know I'll have to do this with MIL. For my niece's first Christmas, MIL took her away from her parents and opened gifts with her and took pictures as if my MIL was the mom. It made me hot and my SIL cried.

It's hard because no matter how you handle something like this, feelings will get hurt whether it's warranted or not.

Omg, I would be so upset! I don't have any advice. If anything we worry more about family not being involved enough, rather than too much. Big hugs. I can't even imagine how upset you are.

My DH picked up M from her house and he thought I cut his hair so he didnt want to accuse my mom. As soon as I saw him I started bawling and called her. I asked her why and she kept giving excuses instead of appologizing so I had to get off the phone. DH and I plan to talk to her.

Ugh. My MIL would do something like this and act like she was doing us a favor. I would be so sad - (((hugs))). I would definitely address this with her when you have cooled off a bit. Rather than acting angry, say exactly what you're feeling- that you can't get that moment back (and not to dig up old dirt, but especially with a history of IF, each of these moments is a little extra special, don't you think?). Oh my, I'm so sorry! I can't even imagine. Obviously a first haircut is a big deal, and I'm shocked someone other than the parent would think it's ok to get a kid other than theirs a haircut at ANY time. Wow.

I would definitely say something, again. I would be so beyond angry that I would probably get another babysitter for most days because that's such a huge break in trust.
