In need of OB advice - North Metro Denver Area

For the past 6 months I have been seeing Dr. Mark Bush at Conceptions for fertility treatments... and we are finally pregnant and now I need to find an OB to go to for the remainder of my pregnancy!

I live in the Thornton area but I have never had a good feeling about St. Anthony's North or North Suburban so I have avoided looking for OBs that have privileges there.

Is anyone else in the Thornton area looking at Good Sam or Avista to deliver? Now I am beginning to wonder if its too far?

Also, what OBs do you recommend in the North Metro area?

  • Congrats!

I'm in Thornton and planning on delivering at Good Samaritan.  I don't think it's too far - we can get there in 15-20 minutes depending on traffic.  I don't have any OB recommendations for you though.  I have Kaiser so I have a Kaiser OB that most likely won't be the one delivering my baby anyway.

    Good luck!

First off YEAH!! congrats!! I am also a former Dr Bush patient with a now 2 month old : I delivered at Good Sam and everything went well. It is a mainly Kaiser hospital so there is only one non Kaiser group that delivers there and that is the Women's Health Group. Same building as Dr B. I wanted natural birth and I had it however my doc and the hospital I did not feel were overly supportive but it all was fine. I have also heard really great things about Avista and their group I think its called Avista Womens Care maybebut have no personal experience. If I were to do it again I probably would not do Good Sam again because I would look for a practice and hospital that support a more unmediated experience. Good luck to you and again congratulations!
  • We're also in Thornton and just gave birth at Good Sam 3.5 weeks ago. It doesn't take very long to get there, definitely less than half an hour, but we always leave 30 minutes before we have to be at the hospital. I went to the Women's Health Group and didn't have any issues, in fact I liked every doctor I saw there. The hospital itself was great, we loved giving birth there and found all our nurses to be wonderful. They have really good lactation consultants there (we are still going there to see them) and the staff is all incredibly friendly. If you have any questions

    Edit:
I actually had a un-medicated birth and found our nurse and doctor to be very supportive. We weren't sure if we wanted to have an un-medicated birth, but when I was close to asking for the epidural, our nurse suggested other options like getting into the tub, etc. I don't know if that's something you were contemplating or not, but we did it, and didn't feel like anyone was pushing us to use medication.

  • Congratulations! I also saw Dr.Bush and my baby is 3 wks and naping on my chest right now :. I delivered at avista and saw Dr Moeller with avista women's care. They were great and avista was awesome. I personally wouldn't go to women's health group, I heard many many bad things about them.
