Chicco keyfit 30

I have the above car seat and noticed That it's easy to take her out of it once she's in the base but putting her back in I would have to remove the whole Seat first In order to retighten the straps I never really paid attention because I just used it with the keyfit caddy. But that car seat has gotten heavy as hell and tomorrow my baby jogger city mini is arriving from Amazon. Is it time for me to upgrade to a different car seat? Or my doing something wrong?

Re: Chicco keyfit 30

  • We used that infant seat. Are you talking about loosening the straps when it is clicked into the base in your vehicle? If I remember correctly it does have to be taken out because you pull on the strap under the seat to loosen. That was always easiest for me. There may be another way but I don't remember.

    How ??
  • I tighten with the yellow  notch thingy and pull the strap.
  • Ok let me try again but with the seat in there was no room! Maybe it's my small corolla

Hm... Not sure the size comparison, but I use our Keyfit 30 in a Ford Focus and the only time I have any issue tightening is if I don't make sure the tightening strap by the orange button is out first... occasionally it will get wedged between the car seat and the seat back in the car. Also, you don't have to push the button to tighten, only to release, you can just pull the strap to tighten.

Ok MAJOR duh here. So maybe I didn't explain right. Right before we put M in seat we always loosened the strap by holding down button and then pulling strap from UNDERNEATH . I never even tried to just hold the button down and simply push it back in to loosen it. How dumb! But it was never an issue because I always took her up to our apt in the stroller/keyfit caddy. And I don't want to buy a new seat until she outgrows this one. Thanks ladies!!!
  • I have this. And love it. But I've never removed him while its in the base.

Oh oh oh, that makes so much more sense! What I do is push the button and grab the straps by the "chest clip" and pull before I unstrap L/take her out, that way I don't have to contort her as much to get her out and they're already loose for putting her back in.
