Graco Smartseat?

I'm just wondering if anyone has the Graco Smartseat or has seen one in person. What are you opinions on it? We are trying to decide between a Garco Smartseat or the Chicco Nextfit. I would prefer to get the Graco Smartseat because of the option to buy multiple bases like an infant seat but I haven't seen it in person and want something of similar quality to the Chicco Nextfit. The thing I don't like about the Nextfit is that we would have to reinstall it twice a week since DH and I take turns bringing DD to daycare.

Re: Graco Smartseat?

  • No advice on the Graco Smartseat, but we have the Chicco Nextfit and it is super easy to install! Less than 5 minutes once you understand how to do it.

  • Ditto with the Nextfit being super easy to install. I have been able to connect it and tighten it all by myself in less than 5 mins even though the seat is a little heavy.
  • Don't get the SmartSeat.  It isn't a good seat.  Just from what I've read, CPSTs hate it, lol, and they definitely don't recommend it.

I have the NextFit and it's great.  I love it, DD loves it, it's easy to install and will last a long time.

    What does CPST stand for?

That is a real bummer to hear, I thought it was the perfect seat, especially how it converts to a full booster holding 100 lbs. sad day.

The Diono Radian RXT is a good seat that will last until she's in a no-back booster (nbb).  You can rear face her in it until 45 pounds, harness her in a high-back booster (hbb) until 80 pounds, and use the nbb up to 120 pounds.

Do you have any links? I'm trying to find bad reviews and I can't find any. TIA!

  • I have it and love it! Everywhere I read had great reviews and when I got it installed they had great things to say. It is very big and bulky, but it's comfortable for DD and we haven't had any problems.

  • We have the Graco Smartseat and love it! Lo is a bigger boy and he has so much room. I love how it grows with him also.

  • Demo, does your LO no longer fit in infant seat?

I wanted a convertible but he's got lots of time left in infant seat though I didn't want to keep touing it in and out of daycare.

I got the convertible seat, Recaro Proride, and am just leaving infant seat in DH's car.

She still fits in her infant seat. She weighs 17.5 lbs and it goes to 22 lbs but she only has about 2" above her head And I believe you have to switch once there is only 1" space left. I am just trying to review things now and get ready for the switch. I'm hoping we make it to the 1 year mark.

Technically we need 4 car seats and I'm not looking forward to buying them. It has been so nice having an infant seat And 4 bases.
