Trying to Get Pregnant

Thoughts on being tall

I'm 5'9" and DH is 5'8". It doesn't usually bother me to be a bit taller than him but sometimes I really want to bust out the 3 or 4 inch heels but I don't love towering over him. (And a lot of other people for that matter) I usually wear em anyway but are any of you girls any taller than DH? It also has me wondering if we'll have tall kids or if they'll be on the shorter side...

Re: Thoughts on being tall

  • This isn't the same, but I am 5'7 and have a 34 inch inseam. I have a really short torso, and very long legs, and this makes pant buying really?frustrating! I seem to have gotten my dads legs (6'4) and my moms torso (5'4) my little vent about "being tall."

  • Girl you got some long legs! I wear jeans in 34" length and I swear I have spent the majority of my adult life being frustrated trying to find long enough jeans...

  • I'm taller than DH and I wore satin slippers with my wedding dress and he wore the heels. I rarely wear heels but he says I'm intimidating when I do.

  • Having long legs is great, but its very difficult to find shirts that dont make me look like I am all legs, I have to buy really long pants and petite tops! Yeah, its was really frustrating until I discovered designer jeans that come with 34 inch inseam. Joes, citizens, seven, they are all great! And gap has the long and leans, those are good!
  • That's so funny you mention designer jeans- I go broke buying sevens. I acutally recently got a pair of Rock & Republic jeans at Nordy Rack and the were TOO long..first time that ever happened.

  • I totally feel you about the heel thing, Im 6' and DH is 5'7"!!! the pant thing is getting easier as more stores accommodate tall girls than they ever did before, but its still frustrating. Its funny too because DH and I talk about that, well him mostly, about our kids being tall, hes actually the shortest in his family and Im one of the tallest im mine, it should be interesting!!
  • I am 6'0 ft and DH is 6'4. I bust out heels everyday!! I don't care if I tower over people. I get the comment "why do you wear heels when you are so tall?" So I look right back at them and say..well why do you wear heels? Is it because you like them?? When do you really ever see any flat shoes that are as attractive as heels. If I like I buy it..even if it would make me 6'6!

I dated a shorted guy around 5'9 when I was in high schools and he was confident and didnt mind me wearing heels..so it was all good! Be thankful for your height!

  • I'm 5'9" and DH is 5'10".  When I wear heels I'm just a little taller than him and I don't mind.  Although it was funny the other day at work...I was wearing heels during a meeting and when I stood up to leave I was about 6 inches taller than both male administrators.  They laughed and said they were intimidated.

On a side note, I hear tall girls have an easier time being pg with how they carry their weight. Let's hope it is true!

  • I hear you with the height!  I am 5'9 as well, but I have you both beat on the inseam with a 36.  I get my jeans from deliah's, and dress pants from Victoria's Secret and I love them.  I have a couple of nice pants that I took the cuffs out of too.  It has been a lot easier to buy pants now though, although I was very upset when the WeatherVane stopped making long jeans.  I'm a little nervous about having to find maternity pants when the time comes.

DH is 6'2ish (I guess I don't really know) but I have had exes that were shorter, and it seemed to bother them more than me.
