We just had my DD's 18month checkup and she is finally on the charts for both height and weight. Her head is still small but on its own curve. Since she had some trauma at birth and is in early intervention, our doc recommended bringing in a developmental pediatrician. I called the wait to get on the waiting list is like 6 to 12 months!
I highly recommend that if you think your child may need to see this type of specialist, get an appointment on the books even if it is several months out! My goal is to at least get her seen before we age out of early intervention.
Re: Heads up from BTDT
Its frustrating when specialists take so long to see you!
In my experience, they usually get you in faster than you think though. And if you have a pressing concern, your pedi can call and get you moved up the list-that usually works really well. But if its just a general "it wouldn't hurt to have another opinion" you probably have to wait a bit.
EI lasts until children turn 3 and then they can enter programs in the school system so you have some time there
Good luck!
Our precious girl, born at 27 weeks.
