When did your m/s get better?

I am 10 weeks and CANNOT wait to finally start feeling better! Some ladies tell me that theirs started getting better toward the end of their first trimester (week 9-12), and others (usually those who had twins) tell me theirs went well into the 2nd trimester. When did you start feeling better? And was it a gradual thing, or did you wake up one morning and it was gone?

Re: When did your m/s get better?

  • Everyone is different, but for me between weeks 10 and 12 the morning sickness really started to ease up.  By 12 weeks I had barely any.

GOOD LUCK!  I really think that was the worst part of my pregnancy, once you make it though that things really are a lot easier.

  • Mine didn't get better until around week 16, it was a gradual thing for me.  Although it did come back some in the 3rd trimester.

  • Mine gradually eased up from about 11 to 13 weeks; it would come and go rather than having it all the time. Then I experienced it occasionally (not often) for maybe a couple more weeks after that. Took a few more weeks for my extreme sensitivity to smells to wear off. My first tri symptoms really weren't bad considering I was carrying twins, though they did start right at 3w6d!

  • I felt significantly better by the 12th week and 100% better by week14-15. Hope you feel better soon!
  • I had hyper emesis gravidarum (HEG) so I never stopped. I had my PICC line taken out at 22w, but was still nauseated for the remainder of pregnancy. I even threw up twice at my section. Aaaaaaaaaand then I had my tubes tied Stick out tongue

  • There is NOTHING worse than m/s. I am so sorry this is your time for it. But it will pass and you will love your 2nd trimester! The funny thing with me is with my first daughter I had it right up until week 14 and it was bad bad bad. This time around I had it from week 6 until week 10 and it wasn't nearly as bad. I thought this was strange b/c I am carrying 2 this time around. I was convinced I was having boys b/c they say m/s isn't as bad w/boys. But I'm having girl/boy twins...so I just got reallllllllllllly lucky this time around. I hope yours goes away very soon!!!! You will be a new woman when it does!

  • I'd love to be one of those people that says 2nd tri is so much better, but for me that hasn't been true at all. I am still nauseous for the vast majority of the day (12+ hours) at nearly 20 weeks. I am on Zofran, which stops the vomiting (for the most part) at least. Everyone is different, so hopefully yours will end soon. Most people told me it improved at 12-14 weeks, but unfortunately that hasn't been my experience.
  • Mine was still going strong at 13 weeks, at that OB appt. they had to put me on IV fluids because I was severely dehydrated. That is the day I started on Zofran. It was wonderful, it didn't make the m/s go away completely, but really took the edge off and I was able to keep food and fluids down. At 16w3d I woke up that morning and felt fabulous and I didn't need to take a pill. Never took a pill after that. So for me it was not gradual.

  • I remember feeling noticeably better at around 12 weeks, and then it got better each week so that around 16 weeks, I remember feeling almost normal again.

However, I haven't felt completely 100% the whole pregnancy..it sort of comes and goes, on a very minor level.

  • Mine lasted until 18.5 weeks.  It was like a switch went off, and I woke up one day feeling better.  Up until 18.5 weeks, I felt MISERABLE!
  • I hope you feel better soon!

Mine was really bad until the end of week 13..then weeks 14 & 15 I got sick 3 days...by 16 weeks it was gone.

Its the only thing I remember well from my pregnancy!

  • Unfortunately, I had really bad m/s right up until the 5th month....I got a couple months of feeling pretty good and it came back in the third trimester (but not as bad). This was the worst part of the pregnancy forsure. I hope it starts to get better for you soon!

  • About week 17. I threw up so many times a day I thought I would die. Then one day I felt great. Good Luck :)
