Nursery shades or blinds

I am looking for shades for the nursery. Anything you like and recommend to help keep the room dark...? Everything I find is quite pricey. I am open to blinds as well. Thank you!

Re: Nursery shades or blinds

  • we put up "black out" blinds. They are white and we installed them ourselves. They are not that expensive, maybe $30? Luckily our window is a "standard" size. Though I think a place like Home Depot or Lowes will custom cut blinds for you. Or you can always order them online.

we then put up curtains, which are mostly for decoration, but can be closed.

  • I think it's called a cellulose shade that I got... I bought it at target; $49 for 48". I liked it bc cordless, low profile when not drawn, blackout, and as a bonus this one was super easy to instal.... Peel and stick!

Dh was skeptical, but it's been over a week and its been perfect!

  • I got roman shades since they are childproof. Not sure where your at but I got a deal on them at Meijer. I've seen them at Bed Bath and Beyond too.

  • I use black out curtains that I got at target, I think they were 12 dollars for each panel.
  • We have roman shades PLUS black out curtain panels.  The sun comes into DS's room in the morning during the summer months (right now sunrise is at 5am), so we really need heavy duty shades to keep his room as dark as possible.

    This.

  • If you have an Ikea nearby they now sell black out roller shades for only $15. I saw online they also have blackout liners to hang with the curtains but haven't checked in store for them. A pair of them rain around $30 (I think) and were 96" long.
