We recently started DD on big girl food. She loves bananas, so she's had as much as she can stuff her face with. Her big girl food has so far been complimentary to the main dish, nursing with mommy, but today it took me forever to figure out why she was crying so hard. She was starving. I gave her the container of banana baby food and she tore it up like she had never eaten before. She would cry while I took the spoon away long enough to get another spoonful!
She finished that one and cleaned up a second one under 10 minutes. They were about 2 oz each. After that, she had the milk I pumped at work yesterday and then she had 4 oz of baby apple juice. In between all of this, she would constantly try to nurse. And then - she has slept through the night since she was about a month old, and for the first time since then, she woke up to eat and ate from both sides. One side has always been enough.
Holy freaking growth spurt!
Re: Hungry Hungry Hippo...
'I loved you for a thousand years and I will love you for a thousand more'
I always call our DD hungry hungry hippo too because she reminds me of the old board game when she nurses first thing in the morning -- Like, Mom! Mom! Mom! I'm starving here! Mom! (which is usually followed by a sigh of contentment). So far, she's very content with just breastfeeding, but hopefully we'll get to liking solids soon since I'm not sure how much longer I can keep up with her wanting to nurse so much.
