Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Birthday party activities

We're going to have LO's birthday party later this month.  I think we're doing a Disney princess theme.    If everyone comes(which I doubt) there will be 9 kids not including the birthday girl.  Ranging in age from 1 to 3.  What activities would you suggest.  I've been pinteresting, but I don't see anything geared toward the toddler crowd as far as activities.

Re: Birthday party activities

  • We have a sandbox and kiddie pool for the kiddos and bocce ball/badminton for the grown ups.

  • I went to a friend's LO's birthday party a few months ago and she had ziplock bags filled with paint, glitter and some other stuff taped to her windows for LO's to play with.  The kids really liked it and there was no mess!  I don't know if I'm exactly describing it right but I've seen some similar stuff on Pinterest.

  • I wouldn't plan on a whole lot especially if it's at your house.  The kids will be interested in the toys you have and the new environment.  If you're going to be outside, a sprinkler and baby pool would probably be enough entertainment coupled with any outside toys you have or a bubble machine.  I have found with my oldest that organized activities really weren't worth it until closer to 4.  Before that, they just ran around and played with his other toys.
  • We're inviting our friends and their kids range from 1-10 and older.  So... I've decided to get a pi?ata with pull strings for the 2-9 year olds.  I also have bubbles because apparently kids of all ages love bubbles.  We have a pool and I have yet to decide if I want to lead some pool games like "the kids in the pool go splash, splash, splash song" or something like that.  Obliviously each kid in the pool is with a parent.  And I might put out an art craft like stickers and crayons to decorate a paper bag or something.  If I get desperate I'll stick in a Disney movie but I really don't think that will be necessary with everything going on.

DH wants to get a volleyball net for the adults for our pool.  I just don't know if it is going to be used much and with the kids and all I'm not sold on the idea.
