Has anyone done these before? We live on a lake, so it seems like a good idea to me. They start at six months of age. Anyone have any feedback on these classes?
We start swim lessons at the end of the month and they do this, though I think slower than the actual program though. My girlfriend and her daughter did them and in the first six months she was able to go under water, flip and find the air to float on her back, its really cool!
We started swim lessons Saturday. We live in FL and
in-laws have a pool, we go to the ocean and plan to have a pool ourselves. Anyhow,
the class we are taking in a mommy and me intro to water so they are
comfortable with water and playing. We will move on to the rescue type class
next after she enjoys water. It is intense but the kids learn to survive and
cry for help!

I was really interested in these classes....UNITL I learned their cost. Holy smokes! If it weren't for the price, I think I'd be inclined to do it.
Yes, I am concerned with the cost too. It is also a bit of a drive to the nearest instructor. Soooo, I am actually considering getting certified to teach it myself. We live in a lake community, so I am shocked that there isn't anyone around who teaches this already.
I was thinking about these lessons, but the cost made me wait. I think I'll start my DS in them for the older age range. If I had a pool in the backyard I would definitely do it. My friend put her son in ISR and had great things to say about it. I was thinking about getting certified myself, too, because I used to lifeguard and teach lessons, but I had heard that is very expensive also.
Re: Infant Self Rescue classes
Here is a video about it. If you haven't seen this, it made my hair stand on end.
