swim diapers

sorry, did someone already ask about this?

i bought dd a little splash pool at target the other day ($5 woot!) and we just need to get her a bathing suit...since she's sitting up better on her own now, she's discovered splashing in the tub, and we think she'd love the little splash pool...

anywho...what do you all do about diapers?  i've seen that some of you ladies have posted pics of your lo's at the beach/pool etc....do you just use regular diapers? special swim ones?

tia and sorry if this has already been asked

Re: swim diapers

  • you can't use regular diapers!  I got a couple reusable ones.  One from Kohls, but Target sells them too.  Or you can do disposables.

  • I bought a swim diaper from Target. It's a reusable one by Charlie Banana (not a cloth diaper, it's a specific swim diaper). I only got her one because we only go to the pool  for an hour or so every other day. But I was in Target today and saw that Pampers has "splashers" diapers that are disposable.

We're going to the beach in a couple weeks so I might pick up some more.

How do you wash the one from Target? My parents have a cottage on a lake so we will be going often for the weekend. Just wondering if they wash up and dry fast or would I need numerous diapers? Best case I would like to find something I could wash and line dry and use again the next day.

I just throw it in the washing machine and it turn it inside-out to line dry. It dries in 2 - 3 hours on the line. Super easy, I love it.

  • I will be doing swim lessons with DD next month. I just plan on using the Huggies swimming diapers. It is required at the pool.

I think the smallest start at 16 lbs. I got a reusable swim diaper from target and then also got the disposables. The pool here requires babies to use both (I guess there has been one too many accidents?), and my DS is a little smaller than 16 pounds so I'm hoping the reusable one will compensate for the bigger disposable.

  • I cloth diaper and recently saw on the Bum Genius facebook page that a BG 4.0 can be used without the insert as a swim diaper (it has a waterproof liner). Just an FYI if you're looking for a quality diaper.

  • DD hasn't been to the beach/pool yet

With DS we used Huggies little swimmers when going in the water at the beach (if he was just in the sand he'd wear regular diapers under his trunks) or in the kiddie pool if there was another kid in; if it was just him he didn't wear a diaper under the bathing suit
