DH was doing it for a while before DS#2 was born. He was doing it for the health benefits other than weight loss, and he didn't lose weight. He definitely made up calories on the "feast" days, but he didn't gain weight either. And he never got any tests to see if whatever levels are supposed to improve did actually improve.
I think it's doable for busy people who can avoid food! I could never do it being home all day, but DH is pretty busy at work and also exercised the days he fasted which actually supressed his appetite. There were some nights that he was famished. It kind of annoyed me when he wouldn't be eating dinner with me and DS#1 - especially when I forgot it was a fast day and made a big dinner.
Re: Anyone tried the fast diet 5:2??

Its where you "fast" 2 days of the week (eating only 500 calories for women & 600 for men) & eat normally the other 5 days.
So, there really aren't supposed to be "feast" days, or yeah, obviously there will not be a weekly deficit of calories.
