But be aware that there are some boards that are more high-drama than others, and some have unwritten rules about introducing yourself, etc. My advice is to:
1. Lurk on boards you may be interested in. See if the vibe is something that appeals to you, some place you'd like to hang around. You'll also start to find out the unwritten rules of the board (eg, no drive-by BFPs, first posts during your 2ww, etc) and the lingo used on that particular board
2. Read the FAQs at the top of the boards, if there are any. They often answer questions you have in mind so you don't get flamed for asking a question they've seen 10293847 times
3. Introduce yourself in a post. I compare it to a dinner party. You wouldn't just walk up and start chatting with strangers, you'd introduce yourself. A lot of boards kind of require it.
4. Don't fret if you get flamed for something, and don't delete that post. People will always remember those who delete. Just take it as part of being on a public message board, and adjust accordingly. I've been here for YEARS, and have been at least mildly flamed on almost every board I've been on. Such is the nature of the beast.
Re: Joining a board.
You don't join per se. You just start posting.
