I say no. We're not even close to thinking about potty training it when we were trying with my oldest, I found pull ups to just be more expensive diapers. He still felt like he was wearing a diaper so didn't act any different. There are fewer in a pack and they're more expensive. We'll be skipping them and going straight to undies/naked time when we find it is time to potty train.
Good! Me too as far as SKIPPING them. A documentary a watched stated how its just another way to stretch out the Billion dollar diaper industry. I remember trying them with my DD and found them annoying. I know DH wants to try them just so he doesnt miss out on the experiance and is worried about accidents. I think that those accidents are what train us!
We haven't begun to think about potty training yet, but I do have one small pack of pull ups and I keep some in DS's diaper bag (along with his regular diapers) because sometimes changing his diaper is such a battle, I can get him to step into a pull up easier than laying him down. They are for emergencies when we're out of the house.
Very interesting comments though about them being not worth it during potty training. Something I will keep in my when we get to that point!

I use the Huggies SlipOns for this reason. Every diaper change is a screaming, wrestling match so it's way easier to just get the diaper around his ankles, rip the old one off do a quick wipe and pull up. There seem to be a TON of coupons for the SlipOns and I bought up a ton of them a few months ago at Target for about $3.50/jumbo. At that price, they're wayyyy worth it.
I doubt we will use them but not because they are expensive. I'm not even really thinking about potty training yet but we will probably just do a diaper at night until DD is 100% trained. If she ends up having a hard time at night for an extended period of time, then we may end up with Pull Ups or GoodNights or something.
We will probably be doing cloth training pants as we do cloth diapers most of the time anyway. Since cloth doesn't wick away moisture like regular diapers do, it will be like she is in underwear anyway, just less mess for me.

We have "accidentally" started potty training. We just bought one when she turned 1 to get her used to it. Then I noticed she doesn't pee all night so one morning we went down to it and she went pee, and it has progressed from there. Now we are only going through a couple diapers a day for when she poops. However, just last week she started to poop in her toilet. We will bypass pull ups. Like everyone else has mentioned diapers are cheaper. As long as I set her down every time I have to go, which is quite often we are doing good.
I would not waste money on pull-ups at this stage when you are only as you said, "playing with potty training". They are convenient when they are bigger and you are hardcore potty training. We did the 3 day method shortly after my oldest turned 3 (he was doing pretty good using his potty when he woke up and before baths at 2.5, but then we brought baby brother home and he would rather lay beside his brother and have a diaper changed). Anyway, when they are strong and mature enough to pull them down themselves so they are learning to do that rather than having diapers untaped. I felt that they were much easier to re-use when they keep them dry between potty uses than a regular diaper, so even though they are more expensive, I used less because I tended to toss the regular diaper even if it wasn't wet rather than try to put it back on with him standing up and hope that the tape still holds. There is no way I would have trusted going out in public in just underwear right away, he still has a thing that it is hard to get him to use the bathroom anywhere but home, it would have been a disaster.

We need to buy the pull ups too. I don't understand how all of a sudden diaper changes are the worst thing ever. DS fights, screams, throws himself, has almost fallen off the table because he's having a fit.
I haven't thought about potty training yet either, but now with baby #2 on the way, and over the weekend we met up with friends from out of town, and their 2 and a half year old is completely potty trained, so now DH wants to start trying. I feel like I can only handle one battle at a time, and right now we are battling with separation anxiety and not sleeping all night.
