mess management with solids?

LO just started solids this weekend-- loves them, but my oh my, the mess!!

What is your strategy for clean up and/or mess minimization?

  • We just use a bib and then wipe her face afterwards with a wet paper towel. She really loves her food though, so there usually isn't a big mess. Except when she grabs the spoon and tries to feed herself...then we need 2 paper towels!

have fun! the mess is part of the whole experience!

  • G is pretty easy and not too messy. I just put a bib on him to feed him and sometimes he is messier than others, but never horrible! With that said I have found that our high chair has shoulder straps as well as the waist strap and it makes a world of a difference. When feeding him in a high chair without the shoulder straps I realized things got A LOT messier!

  • DD was very messy at first.  Mostly putting her hands in her mouth, with a mouth full of food in it. It got better as she got better with eating.

Now she only makes a huge mess when she is tired.  Then she tends to rub her hands all over her face.

If its a big mess, we go straight to the bath after eating.
